This is a 2001 Mercedes-Benz SL280 Designo RHD, finished in Alanite Green with contrasting Java leather and burr walnut trim. The car has done 55,000 miles from new.

In 1957 Mercedes-Benz had unveiled the 300SL Roadster to the world, starting a lineage of grand touring cars under the Sport Leicht name. 40 years (and four generations) later in 1997, Mercedes-Benz celebrated the launch of the Roadster with 3 very special ‘40th Anniversary Editions of the SL. These 3 editions were the ‘SL Silver Arrow’, SL Designo Alanite and SL Designo Almandine. Only 50 of each model were built for the UK market making these models highly exclusive. Both models featured special paint finishes in either Alanite Green (Dark Green Metallic) or Almandine Black (Dark Purple Metallic) and featured Designo leather and wood trim finishes, as well are sharing wheels with the ‘SL Silver Arrow’. With prices for the SL Alanite starting from £51,190 when new for the 2.8 litre engine, this surely presents incredible value in today’s market.

This car has only 3 former keepers. Between 2003 and 2006 the car was serviced 3 times by Mercedes Main Dealerhsips. In its previous ownership for the last 14 years, she has been looked after by an independent Mercedes-Benz ex master technician who remarkably remembers completing the pre-delivery inspection on the car. The service history contains a further stamp from a Mercedes specialist in 2016.

The engine, transmission and electrical equipment are in great condition. The body work and paint have some light bubbling in places but the car presents well overall and looks great in this colour. The black soft top is in nice condition and the electronic system which operates it functions perfectly.

Included with the vehicle is its desirable matching hardtop with panoramic glass roof, hardtop stand, its original bookpack including a service book and a large collection of previous invoices, MOTs and the V5 document. This car also comes freshly serviced for 2022. She has not had an advisory on an MoT since 2017 and the current certificate runs until December 2022.

A high spec, super-rare, low mileage and well looked-after example at a fantastic price!
